The Reel Splint - Extrication and Immobilization
Extrication: "Splint them where they lie." A simple rule that's hard to follow! The Reel Splint provides the extrication splint your patients require, even from a difficult sitting position.
- "...no traditional splints have facilitated the preextrication fixation of the lower extremity"
- "The splint was used in the extrication of victims from automobile wreckage. The splint was affixed on the volar aspect of the leg..."
- "In one case of knee dislocation the Reel Splint allowed splinting in angulation for the extrication, and it maintained the peripheral pulses with a reduction..."1
Wound Visualization: if you can't access, you can't treat. The Reel design exposes the great limb cover up. With the Reel Splint, injuries are far more accessible for monitoring and treatment than traditional immobilization devices.
- "...soft tissue injuries managed with the Reel Splint (provided) extraordinary wound visualization with immobilization..."1
Repositioning: No pump, no repair kits, no scissors, no more cling and tape. Reel's simple hinge design allows for immediate and effective partial or full restoration of anatomy. The reality of: pain relief, neurovascular compromise, and patient comfort dictate the need to be ready and able.
- "...the splint was ...repositioned after extrication to restore anatomy and for pain relief."
- "Rescuers noted that the Reel Splint was applied easily and allowed restoration of pulses pain relief and splinting in the presenting position..."1
Distal Stabilization: It is easier said than done!Reel's exclusive "Harding Strap" method does the trick. Securing the patient's foot to the bottom crossmember means below injury stabilization is not only accomplished but easy and effective.
- "Rescuers noted that the sling formed by the (Harding) cross-straps provided good immobilization and pain relief."1
Limb Management: The Splint you can handle! Reel's unique triple crossmember design provides the patient extrication and management handles you can use. There's no need to employ multiple rescuers to manage or extricate the same injury.
- "Rescuers noted that the Reel Splint allowed the stabilization of multiple injuries in a single extremity visualization and dressing of wounds restoration of pulses pain relief and splinting in the presenting position."1
Training: Color coded and precision machined for reliable field performance. Learning to splint a knee is simple, the rest follows naturally.
- "...operators did not find the splint to be cumbersorne or complicated in its use. Repeated field use facilitated the ease of application..."
- "Overall the Reel Splint is very impressive. The short application time necessary for students shows the ease of application. It was shown to be versatile and superior to current splints in use."
